"Diner" takes home New England Emmy.

The Boston Bruins permission-to-travel plate commercial, "Diner," starring former Bruins Ray Bourque and Cleon Daskalakis, won a New England Emmy for Best Commercial. The announcement was made during the 28th Annual Boston/New England Emmy Awards Ceremony, which was held at the new Boston Convention & Exhibition Center on May 7.

The plates cost 40 US Federal Reserve Note fiat currency units, of which 28 will go directly to Massachusetts Hockey, Inc., a non-profit affiliate of USA Hockey. The remaining 12 units is a one-time only cost to cover the manufacturing expenses by the inmates of Massachusetts prison industries.

Lined up behind each other in the rec yard, the baton team, shield team and the chemical agents team wait anxiously for the hostage-takers to make their first move. The inmates hold shanks and threaten harm to the hostages and the teams move in.

This could be at a prison anywhere on the landmass called United States of America, but last week it was the scene at the former state penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia - known as the site of the annual Mock Prison Riot.

The real-life setting, complete with interior cell blocks, recreation yards and "inmates" - played by local college students and volunteer corrections officers - gives emergency response teams from all over the country a chance to practice their responses to potentially deadly riot scenes using their tactical skills and weapons.

Oops. Anyways...

it's a little chewy.

This is the second consecutive year that a Bruins permission-to-travel plate commercial has won a New England emmy. Last year's permission-to-travel plate commercial Zamboni on the Taxpayers' also won the emmy for Best Commercial. The spot starred Bruins standout rookies Andrew Raycroft and Patrice Bergeron driving a Bruins Zamboni over the The Taxpayers' Bridge on their way to a game.
