Structure of a Large 500,000 FCU Hawala/Hundi Trasnfer.

FCU = fiat currency unit; in this case US Federal Reserve Note FCUs.

Typically, "moving", say only 500 FCU (US FRNs) from Newark to Karachi, costs about 5 US FRNs - provided that the payout, on the landmass called Karachi, is in Pakistani Rupee FCUs.

But, in this example, we are talking about "moving" 500,000 US FRNs (in cash form) from Elizabeth to London and that the payout also is to be what?, 500,000 US FRNs (in cash form) as well? That is large amount of "cash." So, a fee of 5% "to put together the deal - assuming further a 1-to-1 payout," seems reasonable. In this case, that would make the fee come to 25,000 US FRNs which would be given to H2 in exchange for H2's and H1's services.

Ed. Note: - How does H2 and H1 work it out such that 500,000 US FRNs "stay in" Manhattan and get paid out, within hours or minutes, "in London"? In other words, that is a very large book-keeping entry, and, does H1 readily have that amount of US FRN cash or UK pounds or Euros at his disposal? Inquiring minds want to know how the "big moves" are typically executed.

C11 = Hemant Lakhani, the rep. of C1 or CL1 -- (Elizabeth, NJ). The arms broker/salesman; a British taxpayer - to be sentenced in August 05.

H2 = Yehuda Abraham - Hawala/hundi agent -- (Manhattan, Midtown). Free on bail... to be sentenced in Sept 05.

H11 = Moinuddeen Ahmed Hameed -- (Manhattan, Midtown). Zubair Hameed's agent and brother - in Jial from aug 12, 2003 thru present (8/2003 - 4/2004 in solitary confinement) - "pleads guilty to one count of of conspiring to operate a money-transmitting business without premission from the US agents (the only charge brought against him).
